HURRICANE FAY OVER MY TOWN, MELBOURNE FLORIDA

Tropical storm FAY never reached hurricane-category strength, but it's brought heavy rains over Brevard county. Florida's Governor just called it a "Catastrophic flooding".

Current levels have registered at 30 inches of rain (i.e. 75+ cm!!) Wow...

Here's some eyewitness photos from my aunt documenting the passage of FAY over my hometown, Melbourne, Florida.

She also found a little lobster swimming around her driveway... Nothing quite like fresh lobster delivered fresh at your door. I hope she had a wonderful dinner!

A thought goes out to all those left without power, damaged homes and who are staying in shelters!

WHEN GOLD MEDALS ARE MADE OF SILVER...

I reach second place - My medal is made of silver.
I reach first place - My medal is made of gold!

Yeah - right - dream on, you hard-working athlete!
Apparently, gold is too precious even to be used on an Olympic medal!

I just found out that Gold medals used in the Chinese Olympics are actually only 6% gold - the rest is silver coming out of Australian mines!

So a gold medal is really made of silver!

Which points out that, although recognition is important in any industry, formal prizes are often just part of a laborious, useless rite with little meaning... Right?

Hmmmm?
